MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF DIRECTORS

NOVEMBER 16, 2018

The meeting of Directors of the Missouri Society of Enrolled Agents was called to order by President, Jessica Ammons, at 3:50 p.m. on November 16, 2018, at Isle of Capri, in Boonville MO.   

Those in attendance were:

          President, Jessica Ammons EA

          Vice President, Charles Riggs EA

          Secretary, Sheryl R. Gorman EA

          Treasurer, Richard Ripper EA

Directors Present:  Margaret Doedtman EA, Immediate Past President, Debbie Tolbert EA, Patricia Sanders EA, Lonnie Dean EA,

Directors Not Present:  Kathy Blood EA, Bill Moline EA, James Ford, EA, Serita Eldridge EA.

REPORTS:

Secretary:   The minutes from the previous meeting were distributed prior to meeting and motion was made by Maggie to accept, and seconded by Lonnie, motion carried.

Treasurer and Budget:  Rich, presented the financial report prior to the meeting

Membership:  NAEA membership dues are going up.

Government Relations:  MO Proclamation for EA Week has been secured, and we are working on the KS Proclamation.

Convention:  We are locked in at Camden on the Lake until 2020, looking at Stoney Creek in Columbia for 2019 fall possibility.  There have been no complaints at Camden on the lake. 

Education: Rich is checking on speakers for convention and fall update 2019.  Several names were mentioned as speakers.  Sheryl has been in contact is University of Missouri on the Educating America program. 

Budget:  No report

Audit: No report

Special Projects:  We still need to get details on “Webinar in a Box”.

Communication:  We need help with the MOSEA e-mail, phone contact and constant contact.  Sheryl said if the information is sent to her, she will help.

OLD BUSINESS:  With regard to insurance, after further research we should be well covered by the policy provided by NAEA, Debbie motioned and Chris seconded that we don’t need additional liability insurance outside the scope of what is provided by NAEA.  Motion carried.   

NEW BUSINESS:  Chuck reported on APEX in Orlando, Florida.   Sheryl also reported on APEX.  Serita Eldridge has resigned as board member and from all committees.  Motion was made to accept the resignation by Maggie, Debbie seconded the motion, motion carried.  Board member will not be replaced at this time.    Debbie asked about board member reimbursement for travel.  This was done in past years but has not been done since the majority of our meetings are done by telephone conference.  Sometimes the quality of the telephone conferences is not stellar, face to face Saturday or Sunday board meetings were mentioned. 

There being no further business to come before the board, Maggie motioned, and Patricia seconded that the meeting be adjourned, motion carried.  The meeting was adjourned at 4:55 p.m.
